Kathy Joyce asked:

Green and black tea originate from the same plant, but green tea hasn’t been fermented and retains more tannins. It contains powerful antioxidants which help to fight aging as well as many diseases including cancer. As well as being a very healthy drink it can also help you to lose weight…Read entire article

Green Tea Weight Loss Miracle

How Drinking 3 Cups of Green Tea a Day Can Help You Lose Weight and Improve Your Health.

Green and black tea originate from the same plant but the difference is that black tea has been allowed to ferment whereas green tea hasn’t. As a result green tea retains more tannins and has less caffeine.

Green tea has great health benefits as it contains powerful antioxidants which promote anti aging as well as help to fight diseases including cancer. Just a couple of cups of green tea a day will help to boost your immune system.

It can also lower blood pressure and reduce stress levels.

Make sure that you leave the tea bag in the cup for minimum 3 minutes to allow infusion of it’s powerful properties. Unlike black tea green tea is drunk without the addition of milk, this alone saves you calories especially if you enjoy your daily cupa but want to lose weight!

Tea contains polyphenols which have anti cancer, anti viral and anti inflammatory properties. Green tea contains a type of polyphenol called catechins which seem to have an effect on fat loss by helping to burn calories and reduce cholesterol. Catechins are thought to help prevent the accumulation of fat in the body.

Green tea is also a great aid to weight loss as it increases the metabolic rate and may also help regulate blood sugar levels. This is also good news if you are diabetic.

Just drinking between 3 to 5 cups a day will burn about 70 calories a day, however green tea can be an acquired taste and some people just can’t stand the taste.

If you are one of these people or just don’t have time to make yourself 3 or 5 cups of green tea every day then you may be happy to hear that green tea can be purchased in tablet form.

It’s very important if you are losing weight to eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. Green tea alone isn’t the answer to weight loss however many cups you drink a day!

Gordon P Hall asked:

Decaffeinated green tea contains about 2 mg of the stimulant per eight ounce cup. That’s about what you would find in the extract. So, if you are interested in the health benefits, you might consider a supplement rather than the beverage.

The value of dietary supplements is a matter of much debate. Researchers, scientists and doctors argue about whether or not supplements improve your health. Once you find a good multi-nutritional supplement, the debate ends.

You no longer listen to or care about the people who say that you can get all of the nutrients that you need through diet, alone. You realize how much better you feel and look. You know that you have more energy and that you are more alert. Work is easier, sleep is more restful and you have an overall sense of well-being that you never had before.

Seeing some gray in your hair? Increase your nutritional intake. Have blemishes on your skin, wrinkles or age spots? Increase your nutritional intake. Want to live a longer, healthier life? That might be possible. Green tea extract is one ingredient to look for.

We don’t know if decaffeinated green tea contains the antioxidants that are beneficial to our health. The solvents used in processing may also reduce the antioxidant content. Concentrated extracts are not created using solvents. Some of which are probable health hazards. Concentrated extracts do provide large amounts of catechins.

Catechins are antioxidants. There is no doubt that antioxidants are good for our health. They neutralize free radicals that damage cells and fibers. Free radicals are a cause of cellular aging. They cause the skin to sag and wrinkles to form. Eventually, if left unchecked, free radicals can damage cellular DNA to the point that the cell will die.

Decaffeinated green tea may not provide the catechins that you need to fight this damage, but they will contain residues of the solvents used to remove the caffeine. Some of those solvents are probable carcinogens. They may cause cancer.

Antioxidants reduce the risk of cancer by neutralizing free radicals. Sometimes, when free radicals damage cellular DNA, the cell becomes cancerous. Cancer cells grow and reproduce in a way that almost goes against nature. If you ever looked at a picture of a cancerous growth, you would see what I mean.

Instead of buying decaffeinated green tea leaves, you might consider doing it yourself, at home. That is if you like the beverage. All that you need do is a double seep of the leaves. Most of the caffeine is extracted during an initial seep of a minute or more. If that cup is then discarded, the second cup will contain only a small amount of caffeine.

You really cannot trust the labels that you see on these products. They may say that the product contains naturally decaffeinated green tea, when the truth is that solvents are used in the process. My advice, for everyone, is to find a good supplement that contains the extract and take it every day. Live well!
Alex Fir asked:

Most weight loss experts agree that weight loss supplements can significantly help you in your battle for curves and muscles. Of the 3 commonly used supplements in the market these days, green tea supplement seems the most promising. The other two are protein and ephedra.

It has been discovered that some properties found in green tea makes it a great organic alternative to weight loss supplements.

The use of this tea’s extract in supplements was spurred by the recently concluded study by American and Swiss scientists. The study found that green tea has a lot of antioxidants that can cause an increase in energy expenditure of the body.

The supplement contain both caffeine and the chemical epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). When these 2 substances react to each other, metabolism rates increase along with the body’s 24-hour energy expenditure. Green tea’s EGCG also triggers the release of the hormone noradrenaline, an appetite-suppressant.

The supplement can boost the body’s metabolic rates, thereby increasing the rate by which fat and calories are burned. It can also stimulate the body into burning fats faster, leading to more fats being turned into energy. According to a study, people who take in this supplement lose about two-and-a-half pounds a month.

These supplements come in standardized tablets or capsule forms. For best results, select a supplement that contains 90 milligrams of EGCG and 50 milligrams of caffeine. It is usually taken 3 times a day before meals.

Although green tea weight loss supplement has no harmful side-effects, you should consult your doctor before taking it.

Aoife Joyce asked:

If you are suffering from any minor irritations or illnesses or you just want to stay in the best health you can, I have some exciting information about Green Tea that will help you on your path to good health. Most people that know of Green Tea would know the basics – it is very good for you. But how many know why it is said to be so good for you. For those of you that are among the many that don’t know any details, I will be giving you some particularly interesting details that may shed some light on its said goodness.

To begin with, Green Tea was found by the Chinese over 4,000 long years ago. It is made from the steamed dried leaves of the shrub plant Camellia Sinensis. Drying the leaves this way allows the delicate antioxidants to remain in their natural and best state. And while talking of antioxidants, the most beneficial and prominent of these is EGCG or in scientific terms Epigallocatechin Gallate. This antioxidant is 100 times more powerful than Vitamin C and is 25 times more effective than Vitamin E. This is lovely news for your skin!

Fats and sugars that we ingest are synthesized by the body into a matter called Triglyceride. Triglyceride is used up by the body as a source of energy. If too much sugars and fats are taken in to the body however, there develops an excess of triglyceride. This excess is part to do with what causes obesity. This is not to say that EGCG can remove problems with weight on its own. However it can help hugely with efforts in reducing weight and weight loss diets. It can work in this way as EGCG actually stimulates the enzyme that dissolves triglyceride.

Those electrons that can cause huge destruction in the body are known as Free Radicals. These electrons are unpaired. Because they are deficient of a partner, they are in a ‘reactive’ state. This means they move around the body searching for a healthy electron to pair up with. Some of them are formed naturally in our bodies, but not to an alarming degree. Most of the free radicals in the body are there by way of external factors like UV radiation and toxins in the atmosphere. As they are unhealthy electrons, by attaching themselves to healthy pair, they can damage that healthy pair. They can cause destruction of the cells membranes, allowing bacteria’s and diseases to enter and form within them.

While this persists, one cell after another, it gives way to larger bodily structures becoming unhealthy. Some results of this could be cardiovascular diseases, lowered immunity, cancer development and possible DNA damage. Prevention of this kind of damage can be helped with increasing intake of EGCG in your diet. EGCG can actually KILL free radicals. Therefore, the more EGCG you take in the higher take in the higher our immunity will be in guarding against illnesses and diseases of this kind.

On this note, Green Tea is not the only food that contains EGCG. It can be sourced in many other foods in high doses also. Some of those foods are carrots, broccoli, strawberries, spinach, grapes and red wine. In saying that, Green Tea does contain the highest percentage of EGCG antioxidants than all previous mentioned foods. Green Tea also holds Vitamin B2, Riboflavin, which is involved in the formation of red blood cells, production of antibodies and cell respiration and growth. This next to EGCG and all the other antioxidants it holds, can help in avoidance of several diseases, some I spoke of above, others include strokes, blood clots, skin cancer and many minor complaints and ailments – age spots, mouth ulcers, gum disease, heartburn, lack luster hair, weak nails, even your memory and vigor.
