Vicky D. Taylor asked:

After going through a total body detox program, you can cleanse your body and liver further by following these tips regarding diet and supplements.

1. Eat sufficient amounts of fiber-rich foods along with fresh fruits, vegetables and brown rice. You can even go for radishes, broccoli, artichokes, beets, cabbages, spirulina, chlorella and seaweeds as these are some of the best foods for body detox.

2. Perform hydrotherapy by having a hot shower regularly. While showering, let the water flow from your backbone down. Do this for around 4-5 minutes. After that, do the same with cold water for about half an hour then rest get a half hour bed rest. Do this thrice a week.

3. You can also have herbs like dandelion root, burdock, milk thistle and great tea to protect your liver.

4. Taking Vitamin C also helps in producing glutathione which can eliminate bodily toxins.

5. Breathing deeply also improves the oxygen flow in your body. More oxygen going through your lungs means more oxygen flowing through your blood vessels and brains.

6. Drink at 2-6 glasses (8oz) of water a day at least. Water is the best substance to help cleanse your liver naturally and effectively. Green tea is also great for your total body detox diet.

7. Promote positive emotions to reduce your stress.

8. Taking a steam bath in a sauna can aid in eliminating waste and toxins through perspiration.

9. You can also eliminate toxins through your pores by dry-brushing your skin or by using detox foot baths/spas or detoxifying patches. There are also special brushes that you can purchase from all-natural product stores to get rid of toxins in your body.

10. Exercising is still the most effective method for a total body detox diet. Yoga and jumping rope are the two best ways of eliminating your bodily wastes. You just have to a lot an hour a day to perform these

Troy Francis asked:

Today there are several detox programs designed and suited for people with different lifestyles. Examples of these are herbal detoxification, detox baths in saunas, juice cleansing and more. Cases show that only some detox programs will be hard on the liver and the kidneys.

The Juice Fasting Program- A good juice fasting detox program, will consist of fruits or vegetable juices. This has been the choice for years over water fasting, because juices have alkalizing and neutralize uric acid and other important nutritional substances that the body needs. They also contain Fruit and an adequate quantity of vitamins that are easier to digest.

Herbal detoxification- This has been a big choice for many. It involves the use of several different herbs which can help with cleansing the body. Combined they have good results. Some are in the form of pills or power substances. You may also use some types of Herbal tea for a better detox program. Some studies have shown that dandelion root, red beets and cranberries work well with cleansing the kidneys.

Saunas and steam baths- This type of detox program is widely used for cleansing the skin. This type of detox program will help with getting rid of the bodies surface pollutants that settle in the skin. Most spas have this type of treatment available.

Try to keep in mind that there are many detox programs out their. You will have to decide on what one will work for you based on your health needs.

At the end of a detox program, you may have some side effect such as fatigue and lethargy. You should also go back to your normal healthy diet after completing the detox program.
Finally try to keep your sugars and processed foods to a minimum. This will help you achieve overall health and wellness.

Kerris Samson asked:

Soon it will be spring again and time for us to cleanse our bodies and especially our livers. At this time of year it is good to give your liver a boost to prepare it for the work it will have to carry out. There is one way in which you can cleanse your liver in readiness and that is by using herbal teas, not only are they easy to use but the provide a powerful punch for reawakening your liver.

One such herbal formulation is called “Puri-Tea” provided by a herbalist in Colorado by the name of Brigitte Mars it contains the following ingredients:-

Peppermint, Red Clover, Fennel, Liquorice

Cleavers, Dandelion, Oregon Grape Root, Burdock Root

Butternut Bark, Chickweed, Parsley Root, Nettles

Or you could try this herbal tea instead:-

1 Part Fennel Seed and 1 Part Fenugreek

1 Part Flax Seed and ¼ Par Liquorice Root

¼ Part Burdock and 1 Part Peppermint

A further herbal combination which is also good for cleansing and detoxifying the liver is as follows:

Yellow Dock Root, Dandelion Root, Liquorice Root

Red Sage, Sarsaparilla, Hyssop

Pau de Arco, Milk Thistle Seed, Parsley Leaf

However, there are also other things that you can do to help your liver as well. First of all purchase some extract of Milk Thistle Seed and then when you make one of the teas that I have listed above add 2-3 full droppers of the extract to it.

Below I also provide information on what effects the herbs used above in the teas have on the body.

Fennel Seeds help with white cell formation in the blood and also keep your acid and alkaline levels balanced. Peppermint is good to use as a body cleanser and toner, whilst Red Clover is suitable for blood purification. Liquorice is ideal for stimulating the adrenal glands in the body and Cleavers is an anti-infection herb. Then we have Dandelion which is good for cleansing and strengthening the body. Next comes Oregon Grape Root which is also good for cleansing and building the body, whilst Burdock Root is good for use purifying the body’s system. As for Nettles they are rich in minerals which all bodies need. Then there is Fenugreek which helps to eliminate mucus and toxins from the body, whilst the Yellow Dock Root is good not only as a cleansing agent for the body but helps with the white cell formation. Then finally we have Milk Thistle Seed which is also good for cleansing the body and building its strength.

However, if you do not wish to make these teas yourself you can go to any Health Food Store and they will have them ready prepared. But a way I would recommend to prepare your own it buy ½ to 1 oz of each herb that you will be using then in a jar place a tablespoon of each one and shake the contents up and its ready to use.

When you wish to prepare a cup of this tea firstly boil 1 & ¼ cups of distilled water in a glass container, then add a heaped tablespoon of the mixture, allow it to sit for about 10-15 minutes then strain and drink once it has cooled sufficiently. You should drink a cup of this mixture before your breakfast and before your meal in the evening for about 1 to 2 months.
